Homeopathic medicine for sinusitis is chosen on the colour and the pain — Kali mur for white-blocked, Hydrastis for yellow-ropy, Hepar when it is splinter-sore and chilly — not as a proven sinus antibiotic. Most acute cases are viral. Saline and time do more than a combination bottle. Swelling around an eye is an emergency.

There is no reliable trial showing that Kali mur, Hydrastis or Hepar drains a blocked ostium or equals an indicated antibiotic.

Side effects — what is real

30C cannot clear a bacterial sinus. The harms are orbital infection, a tap-water neti (rare but severe), and goldenseal Q interacting with metformin or other drugs.

When to see a doctor

Do not sit on Kali mur 6X if you notice:

• swelling or redness around an eye, double vision, or a hard forehead swelling
• a severe one-sided face pain with fever, or confusion
• symptoms past ten days and getting worse, or a double worsening
• known diabetes or immune suppression and a black eschar in the nose (invasive fungus — emergency)
• recurrent “sinus” that is actually migraine, or smell loss that stays
• a child who is drowsy or will not drink
