Sabal serrulata is Serenoa repens (saw palmetto, sabal). Boericke used fresh-berry tincture for prostatic enlargement pictures, night urine, and a weak stream. A properly made 30C contains no berry. Saw palmetto extract — the capsule men actually buy — has been tested: and find little or no benefit over placebo for BPH symptoms. Sabal is not a PSA test, not a catheter, and not a reason to ignore retention.

This article is for people searching sabal serrulata uses, sabal Q, or saw palmetto homeopathy. It is not a protocol for acute retention, prostate cancer screening, or stopping tamsulosin.
| Item | Detail |

| Botanical | Serenoa repens (W. Bartram) Small — saw palmetto; also listed Sabal serrulata |
| Part used | Berries |
| Also written | Sabal, Serenoa, saw palmetto, Sabal Q |
| Herb / hexane or ethanol extract | Material fatty acids — this is what BPH trials studied (usually 320 mg/day class) |
| Q | Alcoholic berry tincture — Boericke 10–30 drops historically |
| 30C / 200C | Empty of berry |
| Main classical uses | Prostatic picture, difficult urination, night urine |
| Safety in one line | Extract did not beat placebo in strong BPH trials; 30C was not those trials |
Saw palmetto is a small palm of the south-eastern United States. Native and later phytotherapy use targeted men’s urine. Boericke: irritability of genito-urinary organs; prostatic enlargement; constant desire at night; difficult urination; epididymitis pictures; “tincture must be prepared from the fresh berries.”
It is not finasteride, not tamsulosin, and not a cancer treatment. summarises: a large trial at up to three times the usual extract dose still did not beat placebo; agrees little to no difference in IPSS.
The old page promised “multiple health benefits especially for men’s health.” That is supplement advertising. A 30C search should not inherit those claims.
Extract (not 30C): Large extract trials (up to 960 mg/day) — no better than placebo for LUTS.
Homeopathy 30C: no good BPH trial.
What does work for BPH: watchful waiting when mild; alpha blockers; 5-alpha reductase inhibitors for larger glands; combination; surgery when retention, stones, infections or failed drugs. See also urine when infection is the flare.
A raised PSA, a hard nodule, or bone pain is a urology/oncology path, not Sabal.
Prostate picture. Delay starting, weak stream, dribbles, rising twice at night, residual fullness. Thuja is split stream and sycosis; Equisetum is fullness not relieved by passing; Staphysagria is stinging after insult. None of them empty a bladder in acute retention.
Sexual pictures in the old text (wasting of testes, cold organs) are not proven testosterone therapy.
| Form | What is in it | Evidence | Repeat |
|---|---|---|---|
| 320 mg extract | Material berry | No convincing BPH benefit vs placebo | If used at all, tell the urologist; can affect some hormone assays |
| Q | Alcohol + berry | Boericke drops — untested as modern BPH care | Not a DIY 30-drop plan |
| 30C | Empty | Not in CAMUS/STEP | Short picture only, if at all |
| 200C | Empty | Not a stronger alpha blocker | Not daily |
30C. Vehicle; delay of retention care. See homeopathy side effects.
Extract / Q. Usually GI; headache. Not a reason to skip a DRE or ultrasound when indicated. Tell surgeons and GPs — supplements sometimes confuse PSA or bleeding stories.
