Argentum nitricum 30 is the usual home potency of silver nitrate. Homeopaths classically give it for anticipatory anxiety with diarrhea, a hurried impulsive manner, a craving for sweets that then disagree, loud belching, and a warm-blooded person who wants cold air. It is not a proven anxiolytic. Crude silver nitrate is caustic (lapis infernalis). A properly made 30C holds none of that salt. What Is Argentum Nitricum?

Argentum nitricum is the homeopathic preparation of silver nitrate. Pharmacies label it Argentum nitricum, Arg nit, Arg. n., Argentum nitricum 30 or 200, 30CH, or silver nitrate. One medicine.

You do not swallow lunar caustic. Crude silver nitrate is a caustic once used as a stick to burn proud flesh. Swallowed, it can burn mouth and gullet. Repeated material silver can stain skin grey-blue (argyria). That belongs to the salt, low X, and mislabelled Q, not to a properly made 30C.

Silver nitrate dissolves in water, so pharmacopoeias start from a solution, then dilute and succuss. It is not a plant tincture. Bottles sold as "Argentum nit Q" are a material salt solution, not a stronger 30C. Read the number — the same split as our side-effects and potency guides.

It is not Nitricum acidum, and it is not an antimicrobial astringent at 30C. Industrial AgNO3 is made with nitric acid; that does not put nitric acid in your globules.

It is not Credé's eye drop, and it is not a gonorrhea drug. In 1880 Carl Credé put 2% silver nitrate (later often 1%) into newborns' eyes to prevent gonococcal ophthalmia — crude AgNO3, with a lot of chemical conjunctivitis as the price. now uses ceftriaxone. Boericke's old ophthalmia and gonorrhea listings do not mean Argentum nitricum 30 treats an STI or a sticky eye. Do not put globules, Q or laboratory silver nitrate in anyone's eyes.

How to Take Argentum Nitricum

• Globules under the tongue; 30C liquid about 5 drops in water. Never postpone a prescribed antidepressant or other tablet to protect a 15–30 minute gap — that gap is custom, not proven.
• Sweets are a classical aggravation. That is not a reason to skip a diabetic meal plan.
• Children: Argentum nit 30 only for a short exam-fright picture after danger is ruled out. A child who will not eat, talks of dying, has bloody stool, or whose pupils look unequal needs a paediatrician — not silver-nitrate drops.
• Stop when the jag eases. Anxiety still crushing at two weeks, or any wish to die, needs a person, not a higher potency.

Allergic rash, face swelling or wheeze: stop and get help. Grey skin from "Arg nit 30" is not a thing; grey skin from years of material silver is argyria.

Arg nit rushes, wants sweets, and may need the toilet before the door opens. Gelsemium goes limp and silent. Lycopodium dreads the event, then often performs, with 4–8 pm wind. Aconite is a bolt of panic after a fright, not a fortnight of rehearsal nerves. Do not stack them.
