Nitricum Acidum 30: Fissures, Warts, Splinter Pain
Nitricum acidum 30 (nitric acid, Aqua fortis in the old books) is the homeopathic dilution of HNO₃. Homeopaths classically give it when skin and mucosa meet — anus, mouth, urethra, nose — and the pain is splinter-like, with offensive discharges and jagged warts that bleed on washing. A properly made 30C contains no corrosive acid. Laboratory nitric acid and any “strong” tincture mishandled as a drink will burn tissue. This is not a cancer cure and not a substitute for fissure surgery when a chronic fissure needs it.

What Nitricum acidum is — and what it is not
Boericke: it “selects the outlets of the body where mucous membrane and skin meet”; pains as from splinters; dark-complexioned, past middle life; offensive urine, stool and sweat; fissures with pain during stool as if the rectum were torn; jagged warts that bleed on washing; better riding in a carriage.
It is not a treatment for syphilis, a mouthwash made from drain cleaner, or an HPV virucide. The old page mixed industrial HNO₃ chemistry with piles and dysentery as if they were one bottle. Concentrated nitric acid causes severe chemical burns. That chemistry does not apply to a 30C globule and does apply if someone pours acid from a hardware shop. What Nitricum acidum 30 is classically used for
Anus. Fissure with splinter, sticking pain lasting hours after stool; haemorrhoids that bleed easily; offensive stool. This does not close a chronic fissure the way a lateral sphincterotomy can. Blood mixed with stool, weight loss or a change in bowel habit after 50 is a colonoscopy conversation, not Nit-ac.
Warts. Large, jagged, bleed when washed. Thuja is the greasy sycotic wart; Nit-ac is the splinter-bleed wart.
Mouth. Ulcers with splinter pain on the palate or tongue edges; cracked corners; offensive breath as a picture. Thrush, neutropenia and oral cancer mimics still need a look.

Boericke’s “sixth potency” line is historical. Indian OTC search is nitric acid 30. Do not “step down” toward material acid because a fissure hurt.
How to take Nitricum acidum 30
- Dissolve globules; clean mouth.
- Matching acute splinter picture: a few globules, then stop.
- Keep fibre, water and a soft stool — that is the fissure physiology.
- Pregnancy: skip Q. 30C empty but unstudied. Rectal bleeding in pregnancy still needs a diagnosis.
- Never apply laboratory acid to a wart. That is a chemical burn.
